As financial engineering and the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure reshape credit markets, investment professionals face a growing challenge: distinguishing genuine credit quality from risk that may be obscured by complex structures, interconnected counterparties, and optimistic assumptions.
Join Joel Holsinger for an insightful discussion on emerging vulnerabilities in today's credit markets, with a focus on AI infrastructure financing, investment-grade debt, and the convergence of private and public credit. Explore how to look beyond credit ratings and conventional risk models to identify hidden exposures, evaluate downside scenarios, and strengthen credit underwriting and investment decisions.
Joel Holsinger | Partner, Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of Alternative Credit | Mr. Holsinger is a Partner and Co-Head of Alternative Credit Group and a member of the Ares Operating Committee. Ares Alternative Credit tactically invests in scale across Asset Based Finance (ABF). Mr. Holsinger serves as a Portfolio Manager and member of the Alternative Credit’s Pathfinder and Pathfinder Core Investment Committees. Pathfinder is the first institutional fund to utilize a predefined structure to donate significant future carried interest to support charitable initiatives. To date, the Ares Pathfinder family of funds have already generated returns that would result in ~$50 million plus of charitable contributions. Ares is a founding signatory of Promote Giving, an industry initiative inspired by Ares and the Pathfinder family of funds.
Prior to joining Ares in 2019, Mr. Holsinger was a Partner at Fortress Investment Group in the Credit Group, where he served on the Management Committee of Fortress and the Investment Committee for the Credit Funds and he also co-headed Illiquid Credit and focused on tactical and opportunistic direct investments across all asset classes and geographies.
