Speakers 

Catherine Kuerbitz has worked in various advisory capacities in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. She joined the office of Congressman David Scott (D-GA-13) in 2018, serving as a Legislative Director and now Chief of Staff. Rep. Scott is a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and its Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets; he is Chair of the House Agriculture Committee; and co-chair of the Congressional FinTech and Payments Caucus. Catherine previously worked for Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC), who served on the Senate Banking Committee. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from George Mason University.

Karina Karakulova, Senior Manager for Capital Markets Policy, CFA Institute leverages her prior experience in government affairs, public policy, and investment management (Series 7, 66) to help formulate policy positions, engagement, and research that advance market integrity, investor protection and industry professionalism. Karina holds a master’s degree in financial mathematics from the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and bachelor’s degrees in economics and mathematics from St. Mary's College of Maryland. She is the author of the weekly DC Policy Corner newsletter.
