Mr. Kwei will highlight the current Asian economic and market position in the global context.  The talk will discuss key trends that have driven the Asian economic advance in the past decade, led by China’ s booming economy and the shift of industrial base from the developed West.  In his talk, Mr. Kwei will show the importance of domestic demand growth in driving the future of Asia’s growth story.  Finally, Mr. Kwei will discuss fundamental strength of Asian markets and their relevance to today’s challenging investment strategies.

Mr. Kwei is a co-founder and Managing Director of JK Capital Management Ltd. (JK) which is licensed by the Securities and Futures Ordinance in Hong Kong.  JK specializes in advising clients interested in participating in investment opportunities in the Asian region.

Mr. Kwei is the fund manager for JK Asian Invest (JKAI), an open-ended, redeemable fund that invests in listed securities in the Asian region. JKAI was organized by Mr. Kwei through private placement in the U.S. in 1994. Since inception, JKAI has significantly outperformed the Asian regional benchmark through bull and bear markets.

Earlier in 1988, Mr. Kwei organized and managed the Asian Special Situation Equity Trust (ASSET), a private equity unit trust investing in high-growth companies in the Asian region. When the fund was terminated in 1996, its investments had produced IRR of 36% per annum over a period of 7.5 years.  Mr. Kwei has lived in Hong Kong since 1980 and has built up an extensive network of business contacts and  relationships in Asia. Prior to establishing his own firm, he had served in senior management positions with several international financial institutions, including the American Express Bank (regional head of North Asia) and Citibank (country head of United Arab Emirates, consumer banking head in Canada).  Mr. Kwei holds a B.E. degree from the Yale University and a M.B.A. degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. His academic honours include McKinsey Scholar, Newington Scholar, Rosewell C. McCrae Prize Scholarship at Columbia; Dean's List at Yale.  Mr. Kwei is the author of “East to West to East”, a memoir. He had served on the boards of several public companies in Asia, including Flextronics Inc. and Hana Microelectronics. He is a trustee of New Asia College, a former Director of Rotary Club of Hong Kong and a former President and current board member of the Yale Club of Hong Kong.

Mr. Kwei was born in China and is a U.S. citizen. He is married with two children.
